You don’t have to read my impressions so just feel free to scroll to the end for the AMV :D

I’m bored. Let’s start a new category of blogs: AMV of the week. AMV is short for Anime Music Video. Ask Mother Google if you don’t know what that is. I enjoy watching AMVs and from now on each week on Sunday or Monday I’ll post a blog with one of my favorite AMVs and tell me why I like it or what it means to me personally.

I’ve found many great anime and music thanks to AMVs and I think creators would appreciate more people seeing their work, so everybody wins.

My first AMV is very special. It might not have the most amazing effects as the ones I’ll share with you later on but it holds a lot of sentiment for me. This was the first AMV I watched from beginning to end. I used to hate AMVs as I didn’t like anime in general and I wanted to see official music videos instead of fan-made ones.

I didn’t really hate anime when I saw this specific AMV because I had already finished Devil May Cry and Elfen Lied. However, up until that moment I was fascinated by anime but had not yet accepted it as my hobby.

This video changed my life as in:

1) I found Celldweller which later lead to finding Blue Stahli, RTPN etc. And I sort of switched from straight-up metal and hard rock to little bit more industrial and electro-rock type of music. I had already heard Celldweller in couple places like Need For Speed: Most wanted (video game) but I didn’t consider it to be my style so didn’t really pay any real attention.

2) I found Death Note. Again just like with Celldweller I had heard the name here and there but never paid any attention. Video seemed intriguing so I checked the anime out. Little did I know that Death Note would become one of my favourite anime of all time and it would lead me to step 3.

3) Accepting anime as hobby. Yes, I was one of those who hated anime. However due to my love for video games, I watched Devil May Cry anime which lead to an experiment called Elfen Lied. ‘Intriguing but sick’ I thought at the time and kept avoiding anime until watched Death Note.

Thank you, Dante (a.k.a. skynet2005) for introducing me to Celldweller's music and Death Note!

Reload the page if you can't see the video!

The song used in the AMV is a mash-up between Linkin Park's song 'One Step Closer' and Celldweller's song called 'Frozen'.
